Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026

1. Introduction

HireKit ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our job search management platform.

2. Information We Collect

Personal Information

When you create an account, we collect information such as your name, email address, and profile information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, we collect payment information through our secure payment processor, Stripe.

Resume and Job Data

To provide our services, we collect and process resumes, cover letters, job descriptions, and application information you provide. This data is used to generate AI-powered insights and recommendations.

Usage Information

We automatically collect certain information about your device and how you interact with our platform, including IP address, browser type, pages visited, and features used.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our services
  • Generate personalized job search insights and recommendations
  • Process transactions and send related information
  • Send administrative messages and updates
  • Respond to your comments and questions
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience

4. AI Processing

Our platform uses AI technology (Anthropic Claude) to analyze your resume and job descriptions, generate tailored documents, and provide career insights. This processing happens securely and:

  • We do NOT use your personal resume content, cover letters, or other identifiable career documents to train AI models.
  • Our AI provider (Anthropic) has confirmed they do not use API data for model training and delete processed data after 30 days for safety monitoring purposes. For details, see Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
  • You retain full ownership of all content you create or upload, including resumes, cover letters, job descriptions, notes, and contacts.

5. Data Sales & Sharing

Your information is not and has never been sold to third parties. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for their marketing purposes. We only share data with service providers strictly necessary to operate our platform (authentication, payments, AI processing), and each is bound by their own privacy obligations.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encryption of sensitive data at rest (database, cache, and files)
  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
  • Access controls and authentication via Clerk
  • Rate limiting to prevent abuse
  • Security event monitoring and logging

7. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You can request deletion of your data at any time through your account settings.

Before deletion, you will be prompted to export your data. Account deletion removes all associated records from our database (profile, resumes, job applications, AI analyses, contacts, and documents), deletes uploaded files from storage, removes your Clerk authentication account, and cancels any active Stripe subscription. This process is permanent and irreversible.

8. Your Rights & Data Export

You have the right to:

  • Access and receive a copy of your personal data
  • Rectify inaccurate personal data
  • Request deletion of your personal data
  • Object to processing of your personal data
  • Data portability (export your data)

Data Export: You can export all of your data at any time from Settings. The export is delivered as a ZIP file containing your profile, resumes, cover letters, job applications, AI analyses, contacts, notes, and uploaded documents in JSON and original file formats. Export requests are fulfilled immediately upon request.

You can exercise these rights through your account settings or by contacting us at the address below. We will respond to all requests within 30 days.

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with additional rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right to Know: You can request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to Delete: You can request deletion of your personal information. Use the "Delete Account" feature in Settings or contact us.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell your personal information. No opt-out is necessary.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.

To submit a CCPA request, email us at privacy@hirekit.co with the subject line "CCPA Request." We will respond within 45 days.

10. Aggregated & De-Identified Data

We may use aggregated, de-identified data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you for purposes such as analyzing usage trends, improving our services, and generating industry insights. This data is stripped of all personal identifiers and cannot be traced back to individual users. We do not sell aggregated data to third parties.
