Using Follow-Up Reminders

Consistent follow-up is one of the most effective strategies in a job search. HireKit helps you track when and how to follow up on your applications.

Setting a Follow-Up Date

  1. Open any job from the My Job Board list
  2. In the job detail view, find the Follow-Up Date field
  3. Select a date when you plan to follow up
  4. Save the change

Dashboard Alerts

Jobs with overdue follow-ups appear prominently on your Dashboard:

  • Due Today - shown in amber
  • Overdue - shown in red with the number of days overdue

Best Practices for Follow-Ups

Timing

  • Wait 5-7 business days after applying before first follow-up
  • After an interview, send a thank-you note within 24 hours
  • If no response to your follow-up, wait another 7-10 days before trying again

What to Include

  • Reference the specific position and when you applied/interviewed
  • Express continued interest
  • Add any new relevant information (new certification, project, etc.)
  • Keep it brief and professional

Follow-Up Templates

HireKit can generate follow-up email templates through the Quick Alignment feature. When viewing a recruitment entry, look for the Reply Templates section to get AI-generated suggestions.
